As a non-government organization, the IEC  develops standards for electrotechnology products.   These standards are developed by the participation and consensus of governments,  industry, and other organizations like ISO to ensure the uniformity and safety of electronic products.  In all, about 20,000 experts work on the development of IEC Standards. It’s interesting to note that every nation has equal input to these standards with one vote each. No matter how big or small the country.
