Q: How did you attain your current position as president of Eurofins CRL, Inc.?
A: I stumbled upon the cosmetics and personal care testing industry when I completed my Bio degree and sought my first job. I applied for a lab technician position in the Bioinstrumentation department at Eurofins CRL, Inc., (ECRL). I found the field extremely interesting with room for creativity aligned with scientific methodology in method and process development.
As the company grew and evolved, I also grew into different roles within the company, from working in the lab to working as part of the business development team and, eventually, leading that same team. I worked both on the operations and sales side of the business during my tenure and ultimately got promoted to president in January 2019. I have been part of ECRL for 20 years and currently oversee three testing laboratories in North America.
Q: What will you be discussing during your sessions at the Outsource! Week?
A: I will be giving two separate presentations during Outsource! Week. The first talk, “New Product Fundamentals in Cosmetic & Personal Care,” focuses on best practices for developing a strong partnership between clients and testing labs. Having clear and early communication on client goals and expectations is key to a successful partnership. This presentation will bring to light the recommended testing for releasing a new product on the market in the cosmetics and personal care space.
The second talk, “MoCRA Mastery: Navigating FDA Changes with Ease,” will focus on the relevant aspects of MoCra legislation, specifically as it relates to safety testing.
Q: Why is it so important for product developers to understand the changes in the MoCRA and new product fundamentals?
A: Stakeholders in the cosmetic and personal care industry need to be able to make accurate decisions about their testing portfolio to align with regulations, product launch timelines, and product integrity needs. This means understanding both MoCRA legislation and the best practices for developing a partnership with testing labs is vital for product producers, developers, and manufacturers in this industry.
Q: What is your favorite part of working at Eurofins CRL, Cosmetics?
A: I enjoy working with clients to successfully execute their projects and build their product portfolios. Assuring products are safe and effective for consumers is a large part of what motivates me in my role. I gain great satisfaction from seeing products that ECRL assisted in testing, on the shelves or advertised publicly.
