New Calorimeter for Faster Thermal Stability Testing

Reduce sample volume requirements by 25x with the new TA Instruments RS-DSC

by | Aug 1, 2024

Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) has globally launched the TA Instruments™ Rapid Screening-Differential Scanning Calorimeter (RS-DSC), tailored for biopharmaceutical developers. This high-throughput differential screening calorimeter is designed for precise thermal stability testing of high-concentration biologic formulations, particularly antibody drugs and engineered proteins.

Jianqing Bennett, Senior VP of Waters Corporation’s TA Instruments Division, highlighted the increasing demand for stable, high-concentration injectable drugs. The new RS-DSC meets this demand by offering a high-throughput alternative to capillary DSCs and a more accurate solution compared to differential scanning fluorescence (DSF) technologies.

The RS-DSC employs disposable, low sample volume microfluidic chips (MFCs) for up to 24 simultaneous measurements, minimizing sample dilution, instrument cleaning, and contamination risk. Its unique design overcomes DSF sensitivity challenges, ensuring accurate data for high-concentration samples. Additionally, the RS-DSC features advanced automated software for rapid, precise, and comprehensive thermodynamic analysis.
