Quantabio, a leading provider of DNA and RNA amplification reagents, has launched the eQo 1-Step ToughMix kit, the first product from its third-generation line of advanced reagents designed for sensitive and reproducible PCR and qPCR applications. The eco-friendly eQo product line is lyophilized, bead-based, and can be shipped and stored at ambient temperature, eliminating the need for dry ice and reducing environmental impact.
David Schuster, Head of R&D at Quantabio, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovative, high-performing, and sustainable products. The eQo 1-Step ToughMix kit features the latest ToughMix chemistry, enhancing assay sensitivity and performance. It supports five-plex assays and demonstrates improved yields, higher amplification rates, and lower quantification cycle values for various RNA assays. In tests, it detected as few as two virus copies in a multiplexed COVID/flu assay, showing a 10-fold increase in sensitivity compared to other premium kits.
The kit simplifies the user experience with a straightforward workflow, reducing project turnaround times. It employs new enzymes and chemistry for efficient conversion of structured RNAs at 55-60°C, allowing qPCR and PCR experiments without ice. The rehydrated 4x concentrated master mix is stable for a year at -20°C and can withstand multiple freeze-thaw cycles. The single-tube format prevents cross-contamination, and the recyclable packaging can be stored at room temperature for up to a year.
Heather Meehan, PhD, General Manager of Quantabio, stated that the eQo 1-Step ToughMix’s sensitivity, scalability, and sustainability make it ideal for research and applied markets, both in the lab and the field. Quantabio offers the eQo reagents in configurations of 100 and 1,000 reactions, with plans to expand the product line to include customizable options for specific assays.
